I’m posting this even though you can’t read it right now. I’ve joined a lot of other websites and blacked out this site in protest of SOPA/PIPA.
Last month I was playing bar trivia in Austin, TX with some friends. One of the questions was about what the sticker on explicit CDs says. The answer was “Parental Advisory Explicit Content.” I knew this of course. I hated Tipper Gore and PMRC when I was a youngster. The bar trivia folks only accepted “Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics,” which was the original sticker. They were wrong and we came in 4th place instead of 3rd. Yes, it came down to just 1 point! They apologized on their website the next day for their mistake. I’m not bitter though. The 4th place prize was a free haircut and I had quit drinking by that time so the 3rd place prize ($15 bar tab) was useless to me.
I’m not going to try to persuade you one way or another with SOPA and PIPA (what we’re blacking our sites out for today). I choose my battles carefully and I rarely get on the front lines. This one’s important for my future. Our future.
The name of this post is from a song I wrote when I was in 8th grade. I thought I was cool. It’s silly, but we can be serious *and* silly if we want.
